1. Basic form of triangular guide rail: the guide rail can automatically compensate for wear, so the

generally 90 °. In order to increase the bearing area and reduce the specific pressure, a larger top 
angle (110 ° - 120 °) is adopted under the condition that the height of the guide rail is constant, and 
a smaller top angle (60 °) is adopted to improve the guidance. If the force on the guide rail differs 
greatly in the two directions, asymmetric triangle should be adopted to make the direction of the for
ce perpendicular to the rectangular guide rail as much as possible: the advantages are simple 
tructure, convenient inspection and repair; the guide rail has wide surface, large bearing capacity 
and high rigidity, so it is widely used. But its guiding accuracy is not as high as the triangular guide 
rail; the guide rail gap needs to be adjusted by pressing plate or inlay strip, and it needs to be 
readjusted after wearing. Dovetail guide rail: the adjustment and clamping of dovetail guide rail is 
relatively simple, and the clearance of each surface can be adjusted with a inlay strip, and the height
is small, and the structure is compact; however, the manufacturing inspection is not convenient, the
 friction is large, and the rigidity is poor. It is used in the situation of low speed, small force and 
limited height and dimension.Smooth shaft guide rail, slide block, circular guide rail: it is easy to 
manufacture, the outer circle is grinded, and the honing of the inner hole can achieve precise 
matching, but the gap cannot be adjusted after wearing. In order to prevent rotation, keyway can be
opened on the surface of cylinder or plane can be machined, but it can not bear large torque. It is 
suitable for the occasion of bearing axial load.

2. Common guide rail combinationCombination of triangle and rectangle: this kind of combination 
takes triangle guide rail as the guiding surface, with high guiding accuracy and good technology of 
flat guide rail, so it is most widely used. This kind of combination has two forms: V-Flat combination 
and edge flat combination. V-Flat combined guide rail is easy to store lubricating oil, which can be 
used at low and high speed; edge flat combined guide rail can't store lubricating oil, only used for 
low-speed movement.In order to make the slideway move easily, save labor and wear evenly, the 
driving element should be set under the triangle slideway or incline to the triangle slideway. 
Combination of rectangle and rectangle: bearing surface and guide surface are separated, so it is 
easy to manufacture and adjust. The gap of the guide surface is adjusted by inserting strip, and the 
contact rigidity is low. Double triangle guide rail: due to the symmetrical structure, the wear of the 
two guide rails is even, and the symmetrical position remains unchanged after wear, so the 
machining accuracy has little impact. The contact stiffness is good, the guiding accuracy is high, but 
the process is poor, and the four surfaces are difficult to be completely contacted by scraping or 
grinding. If the thermal deformation of moving parts is different, the four surfaces can not be 
guaranteed to contact at the same time, so it is not suitable for the occasion with large temperature 
change.
